VENUE

A suitable venue is vital to the success of any robot event. Remember that a large venue such as a sports centre or town hall may need to be booked many months in advance. The following are essential:

  • Adequate floor space, table space and power sockets (where required) for the activities.
  • Seating for the number of expected participants.
  • Parking spaces for the number of expected vehicles.
  • Signposting (exterior and interior).
  • Adequate toilet facilities.
  • Catering facilities (for events longer than 2 hours).
  • Rubbish bins.
  • Unobstructed emergency exits.
  • First aid kit(s).
Some of the following may also be required:
  • Public address system.
  • Telephone(s).
  • Computers.
  • Internet connections.
  • Partitions.
  • Notice/display boards.
  • Data/overhead projector and screen.
  • Videocassette recorder.
  • Video monitor(s).
  • Trolley(s) for moving heavy equipment.
  • Work benches and hand tools.
  • Machine tools.
